It is known that the development of agriculture and water resources is a strategically important direction for the state economy. Now in the world, management technologies, as well as the modernization of these industries, have acquired an even more important aspect. In his address to the people of Kazakhstan dated September 1, 2022, the Head of State said: "The lack of water is a serious obstacle to the sustainable development of the country's economy. Now it has become a matter of national security. Water coming from outside is decreasing. Inefficient use of that water itself further aggravates the situation. 40 percent of the water is absorbed into the sand. There are many other problems in this area. In particular, the infrastructure is very dilapidated. Also, the level of automation and digitization is low. There is no scientific basis, there is a shortage of specialists," he said.
Taking into account the above, our university initiated the meeting of the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Karashokeev and the Ambassador of Israel to the Republic of Kazakhstan Edwin Nathan Yabo Glusman, as well as the deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kudaibergen Yerzhan and the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce "Israel-Kazakhstan" Michael Roe attended.
At the meeting, we discussed priority areas of joint educational programs with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, namely: agriculture; food; water resources and ecology.
It is planned to build a Process Research Center as part of the development of the "Agriculture" direction. It houses academic laboratories and a non-academic laboratory for research and development, which is compatible with the alternative system at the Faculty of Israel. An important advantage is that this center will also be accessible to local farmers.
In addition, it is planned to create an Agricultural Economics Research Institute, predict regional and global trends.
