On 03.11.2025 at 09:30, in Lecture Hall 216, Senior Lecturer of the Department of International Business and Management, Master Zh.U. Nyshanbayeva, delivered an open lecture in English on the topic “Working with Files” within the course “Algorithms and Data Structures.” The lecture was attended by Senior Lecturers of the Department of International Business and Management Zhantasova D.M. and Batyrbek N.B., as well as Senior Lecturers of the Department of IT and Digital Technologies Kenzhebaeva U.E., Nakhipova V., Izkhanova B., and other faculty members of the department.
The open lecture was conducted in a quest-based format. Students explored new material through an adventure-style game, which made learning engaging and easy to understand. Before the lesson, students were provided with a “quest passport” — an instruction sheet containing Levels 1–3, tasks, and requirements for completing each level. Short “mini-questions” (a quiz) were asked between the levels. The class was divided into pairs, and after each task, a mini-discussion was held in which students shared their difficulties and successes encountered while completing the quest tasks. A lecture presentation (created in Canva) was displayed on the smart board, the quiz was conducted using the Kahoot application, and task completion as well as work with program code fragments were carried out on the smart board and with handout materials. Feedback between the instructor and students was clearly evident through questions and answers, as well as discussions during the lecture.
