On April 23, 2026, the XVIII Republican Student Subject Olympiad titled “Library in the Digital Age: Knowledge, Innovation, Future” was held at M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University. The coincidence of this event with National Book Day and Librarians’ Day further enhanced its significance. This day highlights the role of books and knowledge in society and promotes spiritual and cultural values. The Olympiad is a platform where knowledge, skills, research, and creativity come together. For students enrolled in the “Library Science” educational program, this competition provides an excellent opportunity to improve their professional knowledge, as well as to develop creative and research abilities. Participants not only demonstrate their theoretical knowledge but also complete practical tasks, propose new ideas, and master modern approaches to working with information. Thus, the Olympiad contributes to students’ professional growth and opens new pathways for mastering contemporary trends in library science in the digital era.

The XVIII Republican Subject Olympiad was conducted in accordance with approved regulations and consisted of three stages: an introduction stage, a theoretical stage, and a practical stage (project defense). At each stage, participants were evaluated based on their knowledge, skills, and professional competencies in line with established criteria.

The “Qazaq Book Trend” team from Zhumabek Akhmetuly Tashenov University participated in the competition and won third place. The team’s research project was awarded the nomination “Best Innovation.”

The Olympiad also brought together teams from Al-Farabi Kazakh National University, M. Auezov South Kazakhstan University, Kazakh National Women’s Teacher Training University, M. Utemisov West Kazakhstan University, and West Kazakhstan Innovation and Technological University, who competed at a high level.

The results of the competition clearly demonstrated the high standards and strong academic potential of the country’s leading universities.
