Senior Lecturer of the Department of Philology, Islamova M.M., conducted an open lesson with group PF-19-9k in room 220 on the topic “Word Meaning and Polysemy” within the course “Lexicology.”
The aim of the open lesson was to explain the basic concepts of lexicology to students, to teach them the types of word meanings (literal and figurative meanings), to help them distinguish between polysemy and homonyms, and to consolidate theoretical knowledge through practical tasks.
The lesson was organized according to the plan. First, the organizational stage was carried out, and the topic and objectives of the lesson were introduced. During the explanation of the new material, a definition of lexicology was given, and the nature of word meaning, the features of literal and figurative meanings, the phenomenon of polysemy, and the differences between polysemy and homonyms were explained from a scientific perspective. The theoretical material was reinforced with specific examples.
During the lesson, the students of group PF-19-9k demonstrated active participation, gave clear answers to questions, and freely expressed their opinions. During group discussions, there was productive exchange of ideas. The students showed that they had mastered the topic.
