In honor of December 25 – Psychologists’ Day in Kazakhstan

In honor of December 25 – Psychologists’ Day in Kazakhstan, the Department of “Pedagogy and Psychology,” under the organization of senior lecturer, Master G.T. Malgaidarova and Z.A. Makhametova, held an open educational event titled “My Profession – My Pride” with the participation of students from groups PIK-24 7k(IP)1,2,3. The aim of the event was to broaden students’ understanding of the psychology profession, explain the role of psychological services in society, and foster personal development, self-awareness, and mutual respect.
Special guests were invited to the event: Gulnara Turmakhanovna Aitzhanova – recipient of the Presidential International Scholarship “Bolashak” of the Republic of Kazakhstan, honorary member of the International Academy of Psychological Sciences, psychologist, art therapist, Doctor of Administration in the fields of psychology, pedagogy, and sociology, and Head of the “Psychological Support” Center at the South Kazakhstan Pedagogical University named after Özbekäli Jänibekov; as well as Saltanat Sailaukyzy Assanova – PhD in Philosophy, associate professor, experienced psychologist, certified Gestalt therapist in accordance with the accreditation requirements of the European Association for Gestalt Therapy (EAGT), assistant trainer at the Moscow Institute of Gestalt and Psychodrama (MIGIP), and Director of the practical psychological center “INSAN.” Faculty members of the department also took part in the event.
The guests shared valuable insights about the importance of psychological services in contemporary society, the professional ethics of a psychologist, and current trends in working with youth.
During the event, future psychologists received information about the significance of the profession, professional duties, and the responsibility involved in supporting mental well-being. Additionally, relaxation exercises, educational games, a “Psychologist’s Advice” segment, and short stress-level assessment tests were conducted among students and faculty members.
The participating students showed great interest in the field of psychology and developed a positive attitude toward their future profession. The open educational event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere and included practical exercises aimed at improving the emotional well-being of participants.
At the conclusion of the event, active participants were awarded Letters of Appreciation on behalf of the University Rector K. Baibolov and Faculty Dean M. Meirbekov.
