Department History
The history of the department begins on October 1, 1999. The department trains teachers of the Kazakh language and literature. It has been continuously working on preparing Kazakh language and literature teachers capable of forming systematic knowledge in the field of education, organizing the educational process in accordance with modern requirements, and carrying out scientific research and project work.
The main goal of the department is to strengthen the integration of education and science based on the conceptual principles of education, including humanization, informatization, and integration, ensuring the integration of teaching and upbringing, creating a healthy educational environment for students’ personal development, and organizing educational services for competitive and in-demand learners.
Graduate olding a bachelor’s degree in the “Kazakh Language and Literature” educational program may work in all types of secondary education institutions, technical and vocational education organizations, specialized schools and secondary institutions (gymnasiums, lyceums), colleges, publishing houses, and mass media.
The department pays great attention to the development of students’ intellectual and creative abilities, as well as critical thinking. The department’s classrooms—“Kazakh Language and Literature” and “Abai Studies”—are equipped with interactive boards and modern teaching devices.
Scientific Potential of the Department
The department employs 16 qualified teachers and scholars, including 3 associate professors, 1 associate professor (PhD), 5 candidates of sciences, 1 PhD, and 5 masters of science.
Head of the Department, Candidate of Philological Sciences Amangeldi Altybaiuly Mamyt, was awarded the title “Best Teacher – 2023.”
Zylykha Turarkyzy Zhantasova is a member of the Union of Writers of Kazakhstan and the host of the authorial program “Meirim Munarasy.”
Associate Professor Lyazzat Usmankyzy Abenova was named “Best University Teacher – 2021.”
The department’s professors and teachers conduct research on current issues of modern Kazakh linguistics and literature. According to annual plans, the department participates in national and international scientific-practical conferences, publishes academic articles, teaching materials, and monographs. The staff of the “Kazakh Language and Literature” department plays an important role in training qualified specialists for the fields of education, science, culture, and higher education in Kazakhstan.

Graduates of the department are successfully employed across Kazakhstan. Among them are Akbayan Saparbay, producer and host of the “Zhan Zhyluy” program on “Kazakhstan” TV; Nurlan Esentayev, teacher of Kazakh language and literature at the Nazarbayev Intellectual School (Chemistry–Biology); Aygul Mantayeva, correspondent for “Kazakh Adebieti” newspaper; Daniyar Asilbek Kurbanuly, correspondent for “Astana TV”; Bektolat Shazillaevich Satuov, editor at “Sanur TV”; and Allahbergen Ku1sha Duysenbayuly, reporter for “Sanur TV.”
Students participate in various competitions and win prizes. Students D. Shirinova, U. Fatullaeva, and M. Dodozhanova are winners of “Abai Readings” and “Bauyrzhan Readings.” Duzeł Marat and Nurseit Abzhan are active members of the “Syrdaria” KTK team and winners of the literary season. First-year student Taspolat Mirey won the 1st place in the 2025 Republican competition.

Student Scientific Research Activities
Students develop researchskills through participation in scientific projects, conferences, and academic competitions. Research work helps students acquire methods of obtaining new knowledge and enhances creative and analytical thinking.
Main objectives:

* improve mastery of academic subjects
* develop ability to apply theoretical knowledge and modern research methods in teaching Kazakh and Uzbek languages and literature
Types of research activities include:
* participation in scientific circles
* involvement in department research projects
* presentations at scientific-theoretical and scientific-practical conferences
* participation in university, inter-university, and national olympiads and competitions
* preparation of publications based on research results
The department operates a scientific circle where teachers and students engaged in research participate.
Educational Work of the Department
The department contributes to creating a moral and intellectual educational environment that develops students’ professional competencies. Its goal is to nurture students with an active civic position who meet the needs and expectations of modern society.
Educational seminars and round-table discussions are held to foster patriotism, morality, and spiritual growth among youth.
